10 Hollywood Actors Who Have Appeared In Doctor Who

By Dan Butler /

8. Simon Pegg

Simon Pegg appeared - and, let's face it, was tragically underused - in the Series 1 episode The Long Game in which he starred as the Editor of Satellite Five who was working in secret cahoots with the Mighty Jagrafess of the Holy Hadrojassic Maxarodenfoe (try saying that five times when you're drunk!). Clearly not content with appearing in just one formidable sci-fi franchise, the actor was later seen on the screen - albeit a slightly bigger one - as Montgomery "Scotty" Scott in the 2009 blockbuster Star Trek and its subsequent 2013 sequel Star Trek Into Darkness (also starring Noel Clarke, because apparently you can't even step aboard the Starship Enterprise without bumping into former Doctor Who stars these days!). To give credit where credit's due, though, Simon Pegg was already an established cult legend in his own right. Alongside his writing and acting partner Nick Frost (who, coincidentally, has just been seen in Doctor Who as Santa Claus in Last Christmas), Simon has generally made the world a better place with his work on the Cornetto trilogy - comprising Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and The World's End - and, when he isn't busy smashing in the brains of zombies or embarking on post-apocalyptic pub crawls, he's been popping up in other hit movies including Run, Fatboy, Run, Burke and Hare (trivia: he was originally going to star alongside David Tennant in this!) and Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs. Because Simon is nothing if not versatile.
