10 Hollywood Actors Who Have Appeared In Doctor Who

By Dan Butler /

4. Felicity Jones

Felicity Jones has been an upcoming star for what feels like forever and anyone who watched her as Ethal Hallow - Mildred Hubble's acid tongued rival in The Worst Witch - will have fathomed that she was always destined for greatness. Seriously. It was such a great show. She's been receiving special attention in recent months for her acclaimed portrayal of Jane Wilde Hawking in The Theory of Everything, an understated performance which landed her a string of nominations including a prestigious nod for Best Actress in a Leading Role at this year's Academy Awards. Although she didn't win, it looks like the only way is up for this actress with roles in a currently untitled Star Wars spin off movie and the adaptation of Patrick Ness' popular novel A Monster Calls on the way. You'll probably also recognise her from films such as Like Crazy and The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Coincidentally, she's not the only star of the latter who has left a mark on the Whoniverse, but more on that soon... Way back when, (oh OK, it was only in 2008!), Felicity made a blink and you'll miss it guest appearance in the Series 4 Doctor Who episode The Unicorn and the Wasp as Lady Clemency Eddison, one of the suspects in the extra terrestrial murder mystery. She's not really in it that much (in fact, you can be forgiven for not remembering that she was in it at all), but it's nice to revisit now that she's finally achieving the recognition she deserves.
