10 Movie Remakes You Had No Idea Were Even Happening

4. Weird Science (1985)

If somebody says "John Hughes," images of the '80s will likely flash up in your mind - unless you were born in, like, this millenium or something, in which case you're probably going to be confused as to why somebody is saying "John Hughes" at you. John Hughes, for those who don't know, is considered to have made some of the greatest teen movies ever - Pretty in Pink, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, and The Breakfast Club, amongst others. Weird Science is also a movie by John Hughes, though it's not really considered to be one of the greats. The movie is about two nerds who literally try to "make" their dream girl, because it was written at a time where an idea like that seemed perfectly okay - and it's not half-bad, though it's kind of goofy. And a bit... too smutty for its own good? And it's kind of... uneven. All right, it's not great. You happy? Will The Remake Be Any Good? You know what? This one actually could be. Shooting from a script written by one of the screenwriters who penned the recent 21 Jump Street remake, there's a good chance that this could come out all self-aware and hilarious. And given that the rating is going to be R-rated kind, it's probably okay to assume that the producers aren't making this for fans of the original (I've never met one of those). If it's anything like Jump Street, I think we're in for a treat.
