10 Movies We Desperately Wanted To Happen (But Never Will)
4. Black & Silver
Silver & Black technically hasn’t been officially cancelled, but instead cleaved into two separate movies. With the various goings on at Sony & Marvel though, whether we’ll yet see either of them isn’t confirmed.
The colours in the title refer to the Spider-Man characters of Silver Sable & Black Cat; both of whom received brilliant portrayals in the recent Spider-Man PS4 game. The movie (now movies) take place in the same universe to Venom, which is adjacent to but not part of the MCU, whose sequel will feature Tom Holland of the MCU, who will be playing his MCU role, though the movie will not be part of the MCU.
Confused? Good.
The film was set to be directed by Gina Prince-Blythewood, best known for the cult flick Love & Basketball. Her unhappiness with the state of the script in the summer of 2018, plus Sony retooling the schedule, led to the film being split in half. Prince-Blythewood is still in place to produce, but has not been confirmed as director for either one.
Sony are clearly committed to digging deep into the Spider-Man mythology, and here’s hoping both solo flicks manage to succeed.
