Star Wars offers fans adventures spanning an entire galaxy but Doctor Who can have adventures anywhere in time and space (well, OK, usually somewhere in present day Wales). The scale and breadth of the adventures that can occur in each franchise devolve from the size of each of these canvases. That's why the ultimate threat in Star Wars is a Death Star obliterating a planet and why the ultimate threat in Doctor Who is Davros trying to wipe out all of reality. If Star Wars and Doctor Who were playing poker, Doctor Who would be the player constantly upping the ante, irritating though that is in real life. What do you think? Does Doctor Who have the edge on Star Wars in producing more interesting stories or are the wobbly sets and restricted budgets hurdles too high to leap? Will Doctor Who endure longer than Star Wars? Does Doctor Who have a format better able to produce top-flight stories? Leave your thoughts in the comments section below.
