10 Reasons The Best Things About Star Wars AREN'T The Movies

6. The EU Has Better Villains

Now don't misunderstand, we love villains like Darth Vader and Kylo Ren, but the problem with movies is that villains don't have a lot of breathing room. Now, for villains like Darth Vader, this works because the mystery surrounding him added to his menace. But for other villains, you just need more time to show them off.

This is probably why it took so long for villains like Thrawn to be showcased in a t.v. show and has yet to appear in an actual movie. Thrawn is a patient villain who needs a slightly longer narrative to really show off his skills.

The same can be said of Admiral Rae Sloane of the Aftermath books. One of the absolute best villains in the entire Star Wars canon, but mostly because we're in her head for much of it. It's arguable whether or not she should be counted among the main characters alongside Norra Wexley because the books put us in her head as much as Norra. Because we're in her head, we see her formulate her plans and how she reacts when things go wrong.

The Eu has villains that are simply better than the ones shown in the movies. Better developed, more complex, and just more interesting overall.
