4. Alien: Romulus

After too many sequels ran the franchise into the ground, followed by an underwhelming crossover attempt and a failed reboot of sorts, the Alien franchise finally found some footing in 2024. It's no exaggeration to say that Alien: Romulus was the best the series has had to offer since 1986.

Acting as something of a direct sequel to the original film, with the events taking place 20 years after, and being heavily influenced by the destruction of the Nostromo, Romulus took the series back to the basics of a bunch of humans (and a couple of androids) being stuck in a spaceship with some killer alien monsters.

In fact, there was a whole spectrum of Xenomorphs attacking Rain (Cailee Spaeny) and her friends throughout Alien: Romulus, from the initial alien that first hugged Navarro's (Aileen Wu) face, to the fully grown Xenomorphs and one of the most harrowing and disconcerting monsters the franchise has ever put on screen.

In an attempt to save her own life, the pregnant Kay (Isabela Merced) injected herself with an experimental serum that essentially merged the DNA of her unborn child with that of the Xenomorph, turning it into a hideous human/alien mix. Incredibly, it was a real person who played this offspring, Robert Bobroczkyi, a 7'7" former basketball player who has gone viral in the past for his size, and as it turns out, makes a horrifying alien.
