10 Sacred Movie Franchises That Should Never Be Remade Or Rebooted
6. Harry Potter
The Fantastic Beasts series is already looking like it might be in a spot of bother after The Crimes of Grindelwald disappointed fans and critics alike, as well as enduring an alarming drop at the box office, and we've still got three more of these spinoffs to go.
Harry Potter remains incredibly popular even though the franchise concluded almost a decade ago, and if the Wizarding World remains at the forefront of the public consciousness for the next 20 years like it has for the previous 20, then a remake will only become increasingly likely as Warner Bros. run out of ways to keep monetizing it.
One way it could work without damaging the reputation of the eight-movie series or p*ssing off the fans could be a small screen adaptation, and given the recent launch of HBO Max you get the feeling that pitching a one-season-per-book TV show is already lurking at the back of many people's minds.
However, bringing the beloved characters back to the big screen is only going to invite comparisons to what came before, and if it isn't an anthology-style series or the almost inevitable Cursed Child movie then Harry, Ron and Hermione should be left well alone.
