10 Sacred Movie Franchises That Should Never Be Remade Or Rebooted

4. Indiana Jones

After Kingdom of the Crystal Skull quickly saw one of the most highly-anticipated movies in history become the butt of a thousand jokes and one of the internet's all-time least favorite things, many people were of the opinion that Indiana Jones should be allowed to ride off into the sunset for real this time.

Because this is Disney we're talking about, that obviously isn't going to be allowed to happen, and after the typical round of delays that have seen Steven Spielberg vacate the director's chair in favor of James Mangold, the fifth outing for cinema's favorite archeologist is tentatively scheduled to hit theaters in July 2022.

After the reception that the last movie got, it would be fair to say the excitement behind a new Indy movie that doesn't have Spielberg behind the camera and will feature an 80 year-old Harrison Ford in the lead role isn't exactly through the roof. But at least they're not rebooting, right?

Sadly, that will inevitably come later. There were already rumors of a younger actor potentially donning the fedora and whip for an all-new set of adventures, which went down like a lead balloon. If fans that love the franchise aren't even particularly enthusiastic for seeing Harrison Ford return, then a reboot or remake with anyone else in the lead role doesn't stand a chance.
