5. The New Mutants Won't Be Set In The MCU

Not too long ago, an incorrect listing on the D23 website pointed to The New Mutants being set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While Marvel Studios certainly could have used the film to introduce the idea of the X-Men to this shared world, Kevin Feige understandably wants to start from scratch, and it's no secret that the project is troubled.

It seems Disney never bothered with the extensive reshoots Fox had planned, and Josh Boone's movie is now being released as the filmmaker planned (for better or worse).

Regardless, The New Mutants will NOT be set in the MCU, and that makes it the final film in the "FoX-Men" era of stories featuring these characters. With any luck, it will fare a little better than Dark Phoenix, but there has to be a reason Fox wanted those reshoots, and with box office projections looking bleak, this long-delayed release will likely be soon forgotten.
