10 Things You Need To Know About The X-Men & Fantastic Four's MCU Future

4. That X-Men Reboot Could Still Be A Long Way Off

Marvel's Phase 4 is pretty much set in stone, and that automatically pushes the X-Men reboot into Phase 5. However, one rumour last year claimed that the movie won't see the light of day for at least five years (meaning it's still at least four years away at this point).

That takes us right into the mid-2020s, and as disappointing as that may be, it only makes sense for Marvel Studios to create as much distance as possible between what's come before and what comes next.

Equally as uncertain is what Kevin Feige and company have planned for Deadpool. Disney CEO Bob Iger has pointed to the franchise remaining R-Rated, but it no longer makes sense for the Merc with the Mouth to essentially live in his own pocket universe, so Feige has no doubt been tasked with finding a way to bring him into the MCU.

Ryan Reynolds has met with Feige, but Deadpool is going to be rebooted in some form, so we could be waiting a good four or five years to see his return to the big screen too.
