10 Upcoming Movies Destined To Piss Off Fans
4. Men In Black: International
Considering that both Captain Marvel and Battlefield were subjected to review bombing because of prominent women, there’s every chance that Men In Black: International could suffer the same scorn from a vocal minority.
Tessa Thompson is starring as the franchise’s first Woman In Black, but it would be massively disingenuous to suggest this is the only reason the movie may run into trouble.
For one thing, this reboot/spin off is set to be the fourth movie, which isn’t bad going considering only the first one is particularly popular. Most look on the second one as a bit meh, and three was a big mess. No one is really calling for another MIB, so it really needs to deliver the goods if it wants to win fans over.
There’s definitely potential: Thompson and Chris Hemsworth have an excellent dynamic while Liam Neeson, Rebecca Ferguson and Emma Thompson round out the cast. The famously over the top technology of the movies should play well now that modern VFX can help them look more realistic too.
That said, it’s all but lost its built in fanbase. While no Tommy Lee Jones or Will Smith means a fresh start, it also risks alienating those who’ve stuck with it.
