10 Upcoming Movies Which Are Already Doomed
2. Her Private Hell
Her Private Hell is the long-awaited new film from the incomparable Nicolas Winding Refn - his first feature since The Neon Demon way back in 2016.
And while it's hardly a surprise when a Refn movie divides critics, it was especially galling in this case given that the movie premiered at the Cannes Film Festival to mixed-to-negative reviews, with prominent critics calling it "one of the most miserable theatrical viewing experiences in years" and even "damn-near unwatchable."
Again, it's not exactly a new response to a Refn movie, but considering that Her Private Hell is due to release theatrically at the end of July, the negative reviews have more than two months to waft in the ether and hobble any faint chance the film has of breaking out.
The reviews won't stop the Refn die-hards from seeing it, of course, but anyone else tempted by buzzy leads Sophie Thatcher and Charles Melton might well be scared away by what the critics think.
