12 Shocking Implications Of 2016 Movies You Totally Missed

7. The Cycle Of Violence Will Continue - London Has Fallen

London Has Fallen featured Gerard Butler shooting/stabbing/exploding a whole load of terrorists; sometimes all at once. It’s an old-fashioned action movie in the 1980's vein, where the body counts were high and the plot logic faulty.

While the movie loves a good dose of macho bloodshed, there is an undercurrent of futility to the whole thing. The movie opens with the U.S. drone bombing the wedding of an evil arms dealer, who then swears vengeance by organising a wave of bombings across London.

While London Has Fallen clearly wants you to enjoy Butler maiming bad dudes, the ending suggests the never-ending cycle of bloodshed isn’t a good thing. Morgan Freeman’s Vice President drone bombs the bad guy’s stronghold - which is what they tried to do in the first place - with the resulting explosion killing a bunch of people walking past it; who’s to say the relative of one of those killed won’t start the next round of violence?

We’ll see if Angel Has Fallen picks up on that idea.
