12 Shocking Implications Of 2016 Movies You Totally Missed

6. The Whole Series Might Have Been A Dream - Phantasm: Ravager

Cult horror series Phantasm wrapped up in 2016 with Ravager, bringing the series full circle after nearly forty years. Despite a painfully low budget and dodgy special effects it got by on the charm of the cast and wrapping the story up in an emotional way.

The movie introduces the idea of parallel dimensions, where different events are happening to the same characters. It’s all a bit twisty and confusing, and one reality has Reggie – the hero of the series – on his death bed and stricken with dementia. This reality holds the theory that his tales of an evil Tall Man, an army of killer midgets and deadly silver balls is all in his head.

The last scene has parallel actions; one where Reggie escapes with his pals, and another where he passes away on his bed. The suggestion is that not only were the events of Ravager in his head but the entire franchise was too.

The ending lets you decide for yourself, but it’s a trippy thought.
