4. Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping

A musical mockumentary featuring the talents of Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone (a.k.a. comedy troupe The Lonely Island), Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping tells the tale of Conner Friel – an egotistic music star who abandoned the rap group he formed with his childhood friends to pursue a solo career but is forced to reform his old band when his latest album flops. Featuring inspired songs such as ‘I’m So Humble’ and ‘Finest Girl (Bin Laden Song)’ and boasting a supporting cast that includes Sarah Silverman, Bill Hader and Emma Stone, the film was a hit with critics but a flop with audiences and failed to make back even half of its $20 million budget at the box office.

It’s a shame as it’s pretty hysterical for the most part and its title, in case you’re not up to speed with the creative output of Justin Bieber, is a send-up of the notoriously twatty Canadian popstar’s own self-aggrandising documentary Justin Bieber: Never Say Never. Hopefully it’ll find future success as a cult comedy classic, because if you can’t find something to love about a film that takes the piss out of Biebs then there must be something wrong with you.
