18 Disney Movies Coming In 2021 And Beyond

4. Avatar 2

It's been 11 years since Avatar's initial release, and almost as long since 20th Century Studios announced FOUR sequels were in the works. That is highly ambitious based off just one movie, though it seems possible now that some of them may not happen.

In 2017, these movies were given release dates of 2020, 2021, 2024, and 2025, though even before the merger with Disney and the latest reshuffle, the movies suffered numerous setbacks. Now, Avatar 2 stands alone on Disney's release schedule for 17th December 2021, with reports conflicting whether Avatars 3, 4, and 5 have even been greenlit yet.

With such a huge original movie to follow, Avatar 2 could easily fall below expectations, particularly after such a long wait, but James Cameron is returning to direct, and is joined by the core cast of the first movie. With additions of the likes of Vin Diesel, Kate Winslet and David Thewlis, there is potential for the sequel to go above and beyond, but we'll have to wait until 2021 to find out.
