20 Film & TV Remakes You Didn't Know Were Coming
3. The Holiday
It may make readers of a certain age feel even older that The Holiday turns 20 years old in 2026. It's a bona fide Christmas classic with a lot of heart, and anybody brave enough to try rebooting it will have some big shoes to fill.
Enter Apple TV+, where a limited series adaptation of the story is in the works. The same basic premise will remain, where two women on opposite sides of the Atlantic Ocean trade houses and find love in the process, but with an entirely new cast of actors and characters.
The original was able boast the star power of Kate Winslet and Cameron Diaz, along side rom com royalty Jude Law, and one of the best performances of Jack Black's career, without any one of them standing out above the rest.
Seriously, there is a reason why the film is so loved two decades later, and that kind of magic feels like it will remain elusive. It's charm and wit, the chemistry between the two pairs of actors, and the characters audiences almost had no choice but to root for are going to be incredibly hard to recreate, and anything less is likely going to feel like a disappointment.
