20 Film & TV Remakes You Didn't Know Were Coming

20. The Exorcist

If you're looking for the most iconic, influential, terrifying, and controversial horror film of all time, The Exorcist has to be near the top of the list for every category. William Friedkin's 1973 outing was a genuine game changer, it was utterly unique, and is still relevant to this day.

Like many in the genre, the film proved popular enough to sprout sequel after sequel, with exactly none of them being anywhere near as good as the original. Not even in the same league, which could also be said for the TV series.

In 2027 will come a new direction for the franchise which will see it rebooted. While nothing anybody could do will possibly recapture the same lightning in a bottle as in 1973, if there is one man that has the best shot, it is Mike Flanagan.

Flanagan has become something of a horror legend in a relatively short span of time, helping to create the likes of The Haunting of Hill House and others, as well as an upcoming series rebooting another legendary horror story, Carrie. While The Exorcist is a different beast altogether, Flanagan alongside Scarlett Johansson just may be the ones to do it justice. Or, inevitable comparisons to the original will doom it to being forgotten at best.
