To be specific, The Sixth Sense received six nominations at
the 2000 edition of the Academy Awards. Despite the multitude of nominations,
mind, the production was unsuccessful on all six fronts.
In addition to the Best Picture prize, M. Night Shyamalan
was up for Best Director and Best Original Screenplay, Haley Joel Osment was up
for Best Supporting Actor, Toni Collette was up for Best Supporting Actress,
and Andrew Mondshein was up for Best Editing.
For Shyamalan, Osment, Collette and Mondshein, this would
prove to be the only time in their careers to date that they received an Oscar
nomination.
