10. Behind the Mask II: The Return of Leslie Vernon

After a full 20 years of trying, a sequel to beloved slasher mockumentary Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon is finally confirmed to be happening, but it seems like it might take a different shape from its original announced iteration.

Behind the Mask II: The Return of Leslie Vernon was initially intended to serve as a social commentary on the found footage and "torture porn" subgenres which were immensely popular in the mid-to-late 2000s.

But writer-director Scott Glosserman stated back in 2017 that the ideas in that sequel's script would now seem dated, and so it appears that whatever form Behind the Mask II takes, it's going to be a far cry from the original plan.

Yet considering how much horror has continued to evolve in the two decades since the last film, there's clearly a whole ton of material for the filmmakers to play with. 

And given the brilliance of the original film, it's easy to have faith in them cooking up a storm once again.
