9. Gremlins 3

Almost 40 years after Gremlins 2: The New Batch baffled the world in all of its brilliant, satirical insanity, we're finally getting a third Gremlins, though fans sure do have mixed feelings about it.

Even with Steven Spielberg producing and original writer Chris Columbus directing, it's tough for many to picture what a new Gremlins movie would even look like in 2027.

And above all else, there's the obvious concern that the production will toss out the original puppet and animatronic effects in favour of a purely VFX treatment of Gizmo and company.

But fans can rest easy, as Columbus has repeatedly stated over the years that Gremlins 3 will be using practical effects for the gremlins. 

On top of this, Columbus has co-written the script with Final Destination Bloodlines filmmakers Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein, who clearly know a thing or two about black comedy.

Easy though it is to picture Gremlins 3 as an extremely cynical belated sequel, it sure sounds like those in charge are approaching it in the right way.
