It's difficult to think of any time in the MCU an actor wanted to be there less than Natalie Portman in the Thor films.

Natalie Portman, thanks to contractual obligations, was forced to play Jane Foster from two entire movies. Given that Portman is one of the best actresses of recent times and always goes for challenging roles, playing a two-dimensional and flat superhero love interest will have been real torture for her - and it shows.

She's slightly better in the first Thor film, but not by much. It's obvious from the off that she's only doing it because of her contract and her bored performance feels like that of someone who just wants to get it over with. Worst of all, in her romance she has no chemistry with Chris Hemsworth. This gets worse in the second film when Jane Foster becomes a painfully weak damsel in distress.

Luckily, Portman did not return for Thor: Ragnarok. She often looked genuinely pained as she had to perform as such a weak character and it's never pleasant to see an actor we all love so much looking so depressed.
