5. Mads Mikkelsen

This one was extremely painful to watch.

Mads Mikkelsen is an incredible actor and, as anyone who's watched Hannibal or Casino Royale knows, he can pull off villains brilliantly. He is a masterfully understated actor in that he can sell ridiculous amounts of emotion and villainy despite how little his voice or facial expression changes.

In this case, he is far more than understated: he is literally completely blank. There is absolutely no emotion or menace beneath the surface and he never raises his voice above a whisper or does anything other than walk around meanacingly, making for a truly terrible antagonist. In terms of wasting great actors in the MCU, it really doesn't get a lot worse than this.

Doctor Strange is not the best film in the MCU. While the similar waste of Rachel McAdams, somewhat by-the-numbers plot and the unlikability of Dr Strange himself are all factors in the film being one of the MCU's lower-tier offerings, this weak villain and waste of an actor who plays villains so brilliantly is arguably the thing which drags the film down the most.
