One of the biggest issues with Batman and Robin is the depiction of Bane, one of Batman's smartest and toughest enemies who is reduced here to being a near-mute, dumb comedy sidekick. Also, the movie went the wildly over-the-top route when it came to his transformation: he starts off as a twig-thin criminal selected to test Dr. Jason Woodrue's (John Glover) super-soldier serum known as Venom, resulting in a preposterous sequence where the man's body size changes in mere seconds. In fairness, the comically exaggerated look of the character is probably the least of the movie's problems: had the depiction been otherwise good, it would've been nothing to worry about.
