Whether you're a fan of the the MCU or not, you have to admit that women, more often than not, have been handed a short stick.

Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow is still yet to receive her long talked about solo movie, and other heroines have been in the unfortunate position of being marginalised by their male co-leads. What's most frustrating about this is that the MCU isn't short on great leading ladies either - quite the opposite. The real truth is that each and every one could, quite easily, lead their own film, on top of the obvious women-led ensemble that's been discussed in recent weeks.

While news broke the other week that Thor: Ragnarok's Tessa Thompson and the rest of the MCU's key women have held talks with Kevin Feige regarding the potential implementation of such a project (which would be amazing, there's no two ways about it), it's gotten us thinking about those comic book women most equipped to lead their own films, never mind a team-up feature.

It matters not if they've already got a cinematic excursion underneath their belt - if Marvel can use them on the big screen, then there's no reason to believe they couldn't compete for a starring role in a solo movie of their own.
