The Concern: After spending most of the movie creating some strong character moments and creating a new take on the Superman mythology, Man Of Steel seemed to do away with all of that for the third act. Though thrilling, the Battle Of Metropolis climax was maligned by many for focusing on wanton destruction as opposed to anything else. The guttural reaction to seeing this footage appear again in the new trailer is that Bruce Waynes perspective of the incident is just a poor excuse to re-do that destruction all over again. Why Theres Still Hope: The idea of a film re-visiting an earlier moment from a different perspective is a not a new idea, but it has been an effective one in the past. Both Back To The Future Part II and Harry Potter And The Prisoner of Azkaban showed how exciting it can be to relive these moments with a new context. Likewise, while some are fearful that Snyder will double down on the destruction of the first film, its far more plausible that he might learn from his mistakes. Revisiting the events of Man Of Steel could easily allow him to show a more human side to the destruction and help retroactively improve the first film.
