2. Super Troopers 3

2001's cult buddy comedy Super Troopers was a mighty commercial success against its mere $3 million budget, yet it still took comedy troupe Broken Lizard 17 years to assemble Super Troopers 2, which despite negative reviews again performed solidly at the box office.

Franchise director Jay Chandrasekhar soon enough teased the prospect of Super Troopers 3, though considering the rather lukewarm response to the previous film, it just didn't seem like the fan interest was there to make it happen.

But Chandrasekhar proved us all wrong when, last August, he announced that the third film had commenced principal photography with most major cast members set to return - even Brian Cox, surprisingly.

Super Troopers 3 is currently set to release on August 7, and while the theatrical landscape has become considerably more hostile to comedies since the second movie hit cinemas, it'd probably be foolish to fully bet against this one.
