20 Horror Movie Scenes They Were FORCED To Cut
2. Mr. Hanson Gets Needles Everywhere - Gremlins
Gremlins pushes things pretty far for a "family-friendly" PG movie, but the death scene of the school's science teacher Mr. Hanson (Glynn Turman) was originally way more intense.
In the final film we simply see Hanson with a single syringe in his butt, but in a recent documentary, director Joe Dante revealed that they shot a far more horrific version of the scene where Hanson is shown with many, many syringes stuck in his entire body, including his face.
Dante called it "very creepy," but added that the studio suggested it was too much for the kind of movie they were making, and so it was cut.
Much as it might sound like Dante was strong-armed, he added that he "can't regret anything not being in that movie."
Though this version of Hanson's death has never been released in its entirety, we can at least savour an extremely nasty still from the sequence.
