Legendary French filmmaker Agnes Varda is an indisputable industry treasure, and at almost 90 years of age, she finds herself heading off on a road trip across France with enigmatic artist JR to meet local people and make portraits of them.

You needn't have a real interest in Varda's filmography to find this agreeably quaint documentary heart-warming and uplifting, depicting an unconventional meeting of the minds and benefiting from their wonderfully relaxed chemistry.

While not "vital" cinema in any sense, it makes a highly compelling argument to stop and smell the roses every now and then, to soak in the smaller, quieter moments in life and also to engage with your fellow man.
