20 Horror Sequels That Took FOREVER To Get Made
7. 3 from Hell
Rob Zombie's skin-crawling exploitation flick House of 1000 Corpses was a modest commercial hit and became quite the cult fave on home video, enabling Zombie to swiftly produce a sequel, 2005's The Devil's Rejects.
The film repeated its predecessor's success, and even though it seemed to deliver a pretty definitive conclusion to the Firefly family's story, many were still eager to see Zombie take a third crack at it.
But it was almost another 15 years before threequel 3 from Hell was finally released, due to not only Zombie taking his time to figure out the story, but also his busy music schedule and the challenges of securing funding.
The big drawback of waiting so long to get it made was that original star Sid Haig's health was in serious decline by the time it began shooting, requiring Zombie to reduce the size of his role and bring in (the admittedly great) Richard Brake to fill the void as a new character.
3 from Hell was a wildly mixed bag of a sequel, but it at least allowed Zombie to bring the series to a close on his own terms.
