10 Upcoming Horror Movies You Aren't Ready For

2. Resident Evil

Resident Evil has been a cornerstone of horror gaming since Capcom's zombie saga infected consoles back in 1996. Having said that, the survivor horror series hasn't had the best luck when it comes to live-action. For this reason, news of another adaptation is likely to be met with skepticism instead of anticipation.

But Zach Cregger's take on Resident Evil may deliver the petrifying experience we've all been pining for. After all, the Barbarian and Weapons director has a knack for tight screenwriting, skin-crawling gore, and earned jump-scares.

Despite being an original story, Cregger ensures his Resident Evil faithfully mirrors the games' structure. While being interviewed on the Double Toasted podcast, the esteemed director said, "It follows one protagonist from point A to point B as they just descend deeper and deeper and deeper into Hell."

Though Cregger has been tight-lipped about the plot, the film draws from Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, and the tone of Resident Evil 4Evil Dead II also serves as a key influence, so expect 2026's Resident Evil to be one hell of a ride.
