MCU: 10 Underrated X-Men Who Should Lead Instead Of Wolverine

5. Polaris

Polaris has had ups and downs in her comic book history, appearing as both a hero and a villain at various times. Her dark telepathic persona Malice sometimes sees her labelled a poor man’s Phoenix, but there’s considerably more to her than that.

Polaris recently featured in The Gifted, but with the MCU set to give the X-Men and its connected on screen properties a total reboot, that feels besides the point.

Polaris though does offer Marvel a chance to continue their introspective character stories. While she isn’t one of the group’s most major names, there’s a decent chance she’s under consideration.

However, having Magneto as her father, a history of heroism and villainy and mental health issues which can inhibit her powers, she isn’t a million miles away from Scarlet Witch, nor the Jean Greys we’ve seen on the FoX-Men. Polaris will need to commit to a facet of her identity to stand out.

If the the MCU brings in the Shi’ar, as Fox definitely should have done anyway, Polaris could find her niche and fold into that storyline well. For now though, Marvel remains tight lipped about their mutant plans.
