4. Venom/Sinister Six

The Film

Sony and Marvel will team up to deliver on Sony's original plans to make Spider-Man spin-offs with the long-awaited Venom movie or a Sinister Six ensemble that wouldn't have Spider-Man in.

Officially speaking, this may well just be a Sony movie with Kevin Feige over-seeing production, but it would be much better as an MCU movie to keep the edges all tied together. It should particularly appeal to Marvel, since they surely won't want Sony to dilute their Spidey brand by releasing inferior companion movies.

Any Evidence?

It took a long time for Sinister Six to officially drop off Sony's release calendar, and there's no saying that it might not still be on there sneakily. But how it comes out really depends on the finer details of the Sony/Marvel deal: and whether Marvel are actually allowed to make any movies that aren't Spider-Man focused solely.

Any Groundwork?

None until Spider-Man: Homecoming, but given the number of villains rumoured to be in there, it wouldn't be that much of a surprise.
