20 Most Anticipated Movies of 2027
20. The Legend of Zelda
Following the enormous success of both animated Mario movies, it was just a matter of time before Nintendo took a crack at The Legend of Zelda, but rather than go the animated route as many expected, it will, in fact, be a fully live-action affair.
Relatively obscure actors Benjamin Evan Ainsworth and Bo Bragason have been cast as Link and Zelda respectively, while Uli Latukefu will play Ganandord, and Dichen Lachman has been cast as Impa, with the film also serving as the final screen appearance of the late, great Sam Neill.
Perhaps most crucially, The Legend of Zelda will be directed by Wes Ball, who did a terrific job helming both the Maze Runner films and Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.
Tricky though it is to adapt a franchise as iconic as Zelda to the big screen - especially with Link being a silent protagonist in the games, which he presumably won't be here - it sounds like Nintendo is making some shrewd creative decisions.
The Legend of Zelda releases April 30, 2027.
