The true killer in Jeph Loebs epic year-long serial murder investigation, The Long Halloween, Holiday is Alberto Falcone, one of the heirs to the Carmine Falcone Crime Family (remember those guys from Batman Begins?). He murders only fellow Mafioso, and so his spree is an interesting one to watch Batman try to unravel - thanks to his Code, he effectively has to rescue those who he's committed to fighting. How it Could Work: This is another villain that could fit neatly into the Nolan theme of realism (although the Falcones were largely dealt with in Batman Begins, so thered have to be a bit of a Universe Reboot). Theres no need for special effects, or even intricate fight choreography here either; hes dangerous because of his mind, not because of his ability. Who Could Play Him: Holiday aint a big guy, so I'm thinking one of the shorter actors here maybe Elijah Wood or even, would you believe, Michael Cera. Alberto Falcone is unimposing, unspectacular, which is why him being the killer is such a huge shock. Likelihood: Given the fact that Nolan has already addressed the Falcone Crime family, and even borrowed elements of The Long Halloween in The Dark Knight, theres a good chance this area of lore will be avoided completely. Unfortunate, as it really is a great story. And Holiday really is a fantastic, albeit subtle, villain.
