20 Recent Horror Movies That NEED Sequels
3. The Jester 2
The general hope is that a sequel improves upon its predecessor, and while that's often not the case due to so many horror sequels being craven cash-grabs, The Jester 2 was a commendable step up from the rough-around-the-edges original.
The first film, a 2023 low-budget slasher flick clearly trying to ride Terrifier's coattails, was hamstrung by its patent lack of personality and brutally low budget, yet the sequel is far more polished, in turn allowing for more creative and elaborate magic-themed kills.
And even on a pure narrative level it's considerably more interesting, while building out the lore of the title character in some unexpected ways.
Was it great? No, but it at least suggested the filmmakers were trying, leaving the possibility they could one-up themselves again with a potential The Jester 3.
But because the second film had only a small theatrical release and made most of its money on streaming, we have no idea if it performed well enough for a threequel to get made. Fingers crossed.
