20 Announced Movie Sequels NOBODY Expected
18. War Machine 2
The Alan Ritchson-starring sci-fi action film War Machine is one of Netflix's biggest hits of the year so far, and in fact it's the ninth-most-watched Netflix Original movie of all time as of July.
Yet as history has shown time and time again, the streamer isn't exactly one to strike while the iron is hot, given the absolute glut of successful films they've failed to produce sequels to - most notably Bright, 6 Underground, Red Notice, and The Gray Man.
So, why would War Machine 2 be any different, especially with Ritchson's star profile currently skyrocketing, ensuring his availability will likely become more limited in the years to come?
All the same, Netflix officially announced in June that a sequel, which Ritchson has tentatively dubbed "War Machines," is now in early development, with original writer-director Patrick Hughes signed to return.
At least with a more modest budget of $80 million compared to the aforementioned tentpoles, a cost-prohibitive production shouldn't be an issue.
