6. R2-D2

R2-D2 is the astromech droid that has been in the all the main Star Wars movies from A New Hope until The Rise of Skywalker. Intelligent, sarcastic and incredibly brave, R2 always had the best interests of his friends at heart. He was immensely resourceful with his hidden gadgets, saving the day on countless occasions.

Constantly underestimated because of his size, R2 fought many enemies far larger than himself and was instrumental in many Republic, Rebellion and Resistance victories. R2-D2 kept forever loyal to his friends and helped them in every situation he could.

Along with his best friend, C-3PO, R2 has been at the heart of many Star Wars stories. If it was not for the fearless astromech, many of the central heroes would have perished earlier on in their stories. Fans owe the whole Star Wars saga to R2-D2 and he has earned the highest place for a droid on this list.
