Apparently because they look "sort of similar", a rumour has emerged that Jyn Erso from Rogue One and Rey are related. Just another one of those family coincidences that define the entire Star Wars franchise.

It's all rather tenuous, isn't it? And it would serve no purpose to the higher meaning of the Force in the new trilogy. And as Colin Trevorrow revealed to ET: “Rey is a character that is important in this universe, not just in the context of The Force Awakens, but in the entire galaxy.”
