It's not like Star Wars has made an effort to actively avoid explosions ever since it first arrived on our doorsteps back in 1977; heck, a large part of these movies stems from watching things blow up. Spaceships, space stations... heck, even entire planets! That said, there's still something a bit, uh... Michael Bay-esque about the final trailer for The Force Awakens, don't you think? At least, there is towards its second half. Of course, a trailer is supposed to be exciting, and an easy way to make a trailer exciting is to throw in a bunch of shots of things exploding. It's just a little odd that J.J. Abrams allowed quite so many flashes of ye ol' flaming combustion to be used in a Star Wars trailer. There are at least ten specific shots of explosions. Quite simply, he just didn't need to go down that route. People are psyched for the movie regardless. It's a minor dig, yes, and Star Wars is allowed to explode all over the screen if it wants to; it has earned the right to do that. But perhaps the trailer didn't need to overemphasise this particular aspect in the same way that a trailer for a Transformers movie would.
