Star Wars: The Force Awakens - 7 Big Reveals Hidden In The New Images

2. The Symbolism Of The First Order (And New Helmets)

Another first clean look at a much discussed character in the images is Domhnall Gleeson's General Hux, the presumed leader of the First Order in what is (again presumably - this movie is pretty secretive) Starkiller Base, the outside of which was seen (along with a back-shot of Hux) in the latest TV spot. Technically this isn't a brand new image (it was seen briefly at Comic-Con), but as thus far it's been blurry as hell, it's definitely worth commenting on. Aside from seeing Gleeson look all angry, the real meat here is in the costumes. As if the overt Nazi symbolism in the Empire's design couldn't get any more extreme (the troops are called stormtroopers, for Anakin's sake), Hux's all-black costume includes a heavy coat (well, he is on a snow-y planet) with overlong sleeves and an angled sleeve emblem. It all looks so evil it hurts. There's another key First Order costume revealed here, hidden to the left in the shadows. Those imperials in the background are wearing an interesting new helemet, a cross between the hats of typical Imperial officers and Death Star troopers. We caught a glimpse of these in the second teaser, and once again they're out of focus, but the First Order's shaping up to have a pretty complex leadership structure.
