16. Final Destination Bloodlines

Final Destination Bloodlines sure had a whole lot working against it, given that it was tasked with resurrecting a franchise that had laid dormant for almost 15 years after arriving at a surprisingly strong ending.

The new film spent many years in development, and there wasn't much indication that filmmakers Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein (Freaks) necessarily had the chops to do a new Final Destination movie justice.

And of course, how many good horror sequels with the word "Bloodlines" in the title can you even name?

Well, rules are made to be broken, and Final Destination Bloodlines shocked just about everyone by landing 92% on the Tomatometer - almost 30% higher than any other film in the series.

And its rating was well-earned, with Bloodlines serving up a bevy of creatively grisly kills, some fun twists on the series' overarching lore, and even an affecting final appearance from the late Tony Todd.

On top of all this it also went on to become the series' highest-grossing film, confirming there was massive pent-up demand for Final Destination to return.

Thankfully per its mammoth success, a follow-up is tentatively schedule to release in May 2028.
