3. How Does Skynet Survive?

At the end of the film it seems as though the heroes have finally managed to stop Genisys for good, thus preventing Judgement Day and saving the future of humanity. Of course, since the studio behind the film want this to spawn a new franchise, it was never going to be that simple.

There€™s a credits sting (you€™d be forgiven if you€™d left by that point) that shows Matt Smith and the Genisys system has survived the big explosion that destroyed its compound, thus quite clearly paving the way for a sequel. How exactly this happens isn€™t made clear - it€™s only a very brief scene - but that€™s probably the point as they try to set things up for the next instalment.
