X-Men: Fear The Beast - 8 Biggest Takeaways From The Abandoned Movie Script
3. Wolverine And Xavier Have Significant Roles
While Fear The Beast is a solo Hank McCoy movie, there are still plenty of familiar faces dotted throughout the script. Aside from the likes of Raven and Scott, X-Men regulars Professor X and Wolverine also lend a helping hand, with the two characters each having an important role in the story.
Unsurprisingly, Xavier plays the mentor role. He advises Hank on the Dr. Cartier situation early in the film, but is left behind when Hank jets off on his mission, forcing him to use Cerebro to stay in touch. From here, the most important contribution Xavier makes is that he recruits Wolverine, who is cage fighting in the middle of a grungy bar.
Once Wolverine is onboard, he teams up with Mega-Beast to fight Wendigo in and around the sawmill. While Wolvie is much smaller than his opponent, his adamantium claws inflict some serious damage: he slices Wendigo's right knee, snapping the creature's tendons, and then, he goes for the chest, relentlessly stabbing at Wendigo's flesh.
Funnily enough, the inclusion of Wolverine is actually one of the reasons why Fear The Beast wasn't made. Producer Simon Kinberg declined to read the script because he was planning to reintroduce the character back into the movies after Hugh Jackman's retirement, and he thought that additional uses of Wolvie would only confuse matters.
