When Bungie split from Microsoft and left the Halo universe behind, all eyes turned to the future in eager anticipation. Destiny had long been teased by the developers (an easter egg in Halo 3: ODST first revealed the title) and there was an incredible amount of hype built around the game's release - could it ever deliver on those lofty expectations? Admittedly, the single player experience in Destiny is lacking and many features are still in need of finetuning or implementation. However, Bungie's pedigree in creating stunning sci-fi worlds no longer needs questioning - despite basing Destiny's worlds on real-life planets, it looks incredible. Even Earth feels like an alien world in Bungie's hands and that sense of exploration and adventure is what really drives Destiny forwards. Despite being quite repetitive, gunplay never gets old (again, Bungie's experience shines through) and you'll constantly be pushing to upgrade your equipment and weapons. Destiny is the sort of game that you hop onto for ten minutes to do a quest or two and end up spending the whole night on- it's amazingly addictive and it continues to draw you back, long after the meager story is finished. It might not be the gaming revolution that some were apparently expecting, but it's still a must own for any Xbox One owner.
