20 Clever Video Game Easter Eggs You Didn't Understand

9. Grease Street Race - Grand Theft Auto V

Grand Theft Auto V has so many layered easter eggs, like the Mount Chiliad mystery or the alien sightings, that there are entire Reddit pages dedicated specifically to discussing them.

And yet, even the keen eyes of Chiliad theorists obsessing over every little secret on the mountain can't catch the much simpler reference hidden inside the LS river canal.

The Los Santos River is based on the real-life Los Angeles River, but the similarities between these two man-made landscapes don't just end on visuals.

Inside the LS River at night, you can sometimes stumble across a street race between two cars. The event might seem to be just another of the hundreds of random encounters that happen all over the map, but in reality, this is actually a reference to the iconic street race scene from the movie "Grease."

The cars are obviously newer models, and the NPCs don't look like leather-clad greasers, but the positioning of the audience, the start of the race, and the location are all perfectly mimicking the original scene.

And yet, unless you're a musicals fan or an avid movie watcher, you probably won't even think of Grease when you see it.
