20 Clever Video Game Easter Eggs You Didn't Understand

3. Beetle Juice - The Sims 4

The Sims series has always liked to include references to pop culture. The Sims 4 features a ton of references to pop culture as well, although some of them can go completely over your head.

The EcoLifestyle expansion adds a variety of environmentally friendly activities to the Sims 4, one of which is the ability to grow your own bug farms as an eco-friendly alternative to meat.

The bugs can be used in cooking but also, curiously enough, in drink-making.

When you reach level 10 in the mixology skill, your Sims learns to mix "Beetle Juice."

The drink gives minor moodlets when drunk. However, when you consume it three times, your Sim will suddenly die and transform into a unique ghost type.

The death might seem completely random, but if you take a look at the name of the drink and then at what caused your death, it all becomes clear.

Dying after drinking the juice thrice is a reference to the scene in Tim Burton's Beetlejuice when the Maitlands' ghosts summon the infamous bio-exorcist by saying his name three times.

The dying and becoming a ghost part is, well, a reference to Beetlejuice being a ghost.

Just like your now-dead Sim.
