20 Dumb Video Game Restrictions Players Hated

8. Can't Stop The Handholding - Marvel's Wolverine

Marvel's Wolverine is Insomniac Games’ latest superhero adventure game, focusing on one of X-Men’s most recognizable heroes. As the brainchild of the studio behind the critically acclaimed Spider-Man games, people obviously had high expectations for the title, but unfortunately, Wolverine suffers from far too many flaws to meet them.

The most egregious is the insane levels of handholding throughout the game.

Wolverine is a linear experience, unlike Insomniac’s Spider-Man, but for some reason, the title still manages to be far too overexplanatory.

You can’t make a single choice without some kind of visual or auditory prompt. The game uses giant lines telling you where to go in completely straight hallways, and if you still try to move just a few steps away from your objective, Logan will immediately tell you, "To get back to his mission.”

To make things worse, a lot of the sections where you supposedly have some agency can secretly be played fully automatically. Quick time events succeed even when you don’t press any buttons, and action scenes will often play out by themselves, moving the story forward even if you don’t actively play.

The game limits the impact of your actions so much, it feels like it just plays itself sometimes.
