7. Can't Play Old Maps Beyond Arcade Mode - Overwatch 2

The transition from Overwatch 1 to Overwatch 2 was filled with lots of different controversies, one of which was Blizzard's odd decision to essentially remove Overwatch 1 from existence.

The release of Overwatch 2 was not a simple introduction of a sequel. The game replaced Overwatch 1 fully, transforming it into Overwatch 2 and essentially making the entire game disappear.

At the beginning this meant that none of the older maps from the original game were playable anymore, and although Blizzard eventually reintroduced them, their return was limited to Arcade mode only, much to the annoyance of older fans.

Because Arcade mode rotates its maps and it has a significantly lower player count, it is much harder to play the Assault maps from Overwatch 1, and even if you get a chance, the team balance was been permanently changed to the 5v5 format of Overwatch 2, so it changed how players interacted with those classic levels.

Everything works on Overwatch 2’s balancing system, including Custom Mode, so there was no real way to go back to the Overwatch 1-style gameplay, even though you technically bought the game and should still own it.
